Maldives with floating city project





Group of more than 2000 small islands... the beauty of the Arabian Sea -Maldives. A paradise that attracts many tourists from all over the world. Now Maldives is planning to go one step further and build a floating city. The city will be set in the Turquoise Lagoon, just 10 minutes from the capital city of Mali. It is said that the city will be able to accommodate 20,000 people when the construction is completed by 2027.




See here not only houses for accommodation. It is expected that all facilities including schools and shops found in a normal city will be found here. A canal chain can also be seen through these houses. All these will be set up in an area of ​​two square kilometers of the lagoon.

The name of the said project is Maldives Floating City. It is designed by Waterstudio. The project is a joint venture between property developers Dutch Docklands and the Government of Maldives.





Residents are expected to start arriving here by early 2024, according to CNN. This floating city will take care of the marine ecosystem here. Artificial coral reefs will also be built under the floating city. This is expected to stimulate the natural growth of coral reefs.

Coen Olthuis, founder of WaterStudio, is looking forward to the project. Ortuis hopes that houses can be built at a small cost and the city will move forward positively.
